Is SEO dead?

There have been so many changes in SEO recently. New Google Algorithm updates and now the new AI search results. In March 2024, Google rolled out one of their largest core algorithm updates. It took 45 days for Google to fully implement this update, and for many websites, the impact has been dramatic. These updates appear to have led to widespread panic. The recurring question has been, “Is SEO dead?”

SEO is definitely not dead, especially if you are doing it correctly. However, I have noticed a lot of ad campaigns from people/agencies offering SEO services that are capitalising on the current uncertainty. This has created a myriad of super negative, unhelpful, and plain frightening messages being sent to business owners regarding their websites. The key messages seem to be generating FUD – Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Essentially, scaremongering business owners into signing up for near to useless reports and checklists.

The core SEO elements have remained consistent:

  1. Technical Accuracy: Ensure that your website is coded correctly and adheres to best practices without any glaring technical SEO errors.
  2. Thorough Keyword Research: Conduct comprehensive keyword research to identify the terms your audience is searching for.
  3. Content Strategy: Develop a content strategy that engages both Google and your potential visitors.

By maintaining consistency across these three elements, you’ll achieve strong and reliable results.
