The Early Bird Café, inspired by the vibrant Australian brunch culture, opened in Plymouth in 2019 with a vision to create a warm, welcoming hub where people of all ages could enjoy great food. The client approached b:web to design a fresh, interactive website that would be both user-friendly and dynamic, reflecting the café’s lively spirit.
To capture the essence of being an early riser, the homepage features stunning photography showcasing the cosy ambiance, signature drinks, and freshly baked goods. The design is intuitive and clean, with a prominent section dedicated to the café’s story, highlighting their commitment to quality, community, and the joy of an early start. Given their strong brand identity and active Instagram presence, we integrated a live Instagram feed into the homepage, ensuring that every visit to the website offers something new.
When the pandemic struck, Early Bird’s ability to connect with customers became more crucial than ever. We quickly developed a simple online shop using WooCommerce, integrated within the WordPress framework. This setup allowed the café to continue serving its loyal customers by offering online orders for baked goods, with an easy-to-manage system for inventory, payment processing, and delivery scheduling.
As the café fully reopened to the public, we upgraded the website to a completely bespoke design, aligning it with their vibrant brand and stunning photography. The eCommerce functionality was expanded to include options for click-and-collect, pre-orders and local delivery.
To enhance visibility in local search results, we implemented a local SEO strategy, focusing on optimising the site for location-based keywords and ensuring that the café appeared prominently in Google My Business listings. This included adding structured data for local business details, such as opening hours, address, and contact information, helping search engines better understand and display the café’s information in local searches.
