DIY SEO Training

You want to handle your own SEO. Not because it’s the cheapest option, but because you want to understand what’s happening on your website, stay in control and build something that lasts. The problem is that most SEO advice online is either too vague to act on, written for developers, or quietly trying to sell you a tool.

Our DIY SEO training gives you the knowledge, structure and ongoing support to manage your own SEO properly. You’ll learn what to do, in what order and why, so you’re not just following a checklist you don’t understand.

This is practical SEO training designed for small business owners, marketing managers and solo entrepreneurs. You don’t need a technical background, but you should have a live website and a basic understanding that SEO exists and affects whether people find you online.

What You'll Learn

The training covers everything you need to manage your own SEO, from the technical basics through to content, local search and analytics. Everything is practical. You won’t sit through slides full of theory. Each session is built around what you can actually go away and do.

How It Works

DIY SEO training with b:web is an ongoing monthly service, not a one-off workshop. Each month we cover new ground, revisit what you’ve implemented and make sure you’re making real progress rather than just going through the motions.

Search engine optimisation strategy - a solid foundation for your SEO strategy

Monthly Training Sessions

Each month you get a one-hour session focused on a specific area of SEO. Sessions are delivered online or in person in Plymouth and build on each other over time, so your knowledge grows steadily rather than all at once.

Implementation Support

Between sessions, you’ll have access to guides, checklists and templates to help you put things into practice. If something isn’t working or you’re not sure where to start, we pick it up in your next session.

Progress & Accountability

Each session starts by reviewing what you’ve done since the last one. You’ll see what’s working, what needs attention and what to focus on next. This keeps your SEO moving forward consistently rather than falling off your to-do list.

What Makes Our Training Different

We work with small businesses every day, so the training is built around the realities of running one. You won’t be handed a generic playbook designed for companies with dedicated marketing teams and big budgets. Everything we cover is relevant to your situation, your website and what you can realistically do each month.

Because it’s an ongoing service rather than a one-off workshop, you’re never left to figure things out on your own. If something isn’t working or Google does something unexpected, we work through it together at your next session.

It depends on how much time you can commit. SEO isn’t complicated once you understand it, but it does require consistent effort. If you can set aside a few hours each month to work on your website, you can make real progress. Some business owners reach a point where they’d rather hand it over and focus on what they do best, and that’s fine too. If that happens, we offer managed SEO packages that can pick up where your training leaves off.

It varies depending on your website, your industry and how competitive your search terms are. As a general rule, expect three to six months before you see meaningful changes in rankings and traffic. That said, improvements to your site structure, page content and technical setup can have a positive effect sooner than that, even if the ranking changes take longer to show up.
You’ll need Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console set up on your website before your first session. Both are free. Beyond that, we’ll discuss which tools are worth your time and which ones you can skip. You don’t need a paid SEO tool subscription to do this well, though we can advise on options if you want to go further.
You’ll need a live website, Google Analytics 4 installed with at least a month of data and Google Search Console connected to your site. You’ll also need basic access to your website so you can make changes between sessions. If you don’t have Analytics or Search Console set up yet, we can help you get these configured when you start.
You can join at any point. We tailor each programme to where you are right now, so there’s no fixed starting point you need to wait for. Your first session is always focused on understanding your current situation, what’s already working and where the gaps are, so we’re building on your actual website from day one.
