Carbeile Junior School is located in the quaint town of Torpoint in Cornwall. The headteacher, Pete Hamlyn, sought a partner to develop an extensive school website that would keep current school parents informed about staff, activities, results, and curriculum, while also attracting prospective parents.
We have worked with Carbeile Junior School for 9 years, and we are currently building their third new web design.
The original website was content-rich but suffered from poor navigation and was challenging for staff to update. The new website needed to feature an extensive menu with multiple submenus and a logical visitor journey across over 100 pages of information. Ease of use for staff was paramount to ensure that the site could be kept up to date with minimal effort.
We held several meetings with Pete to understand the school’s needs and to determine the best approach for both the design and backend of the project. After demonstrating the editing capabilities of WordPress, we collectively decided that it was the ideal platform for this project.
Although the school’s branding was already established, we were given the freedom to tweak the colours slightly, resulting in an attractive and approachable aesthetic. The final design features a clean and clear interface with large, impactful images, maintaining consistent branding and tone of voice throughout. A key feature is the extensive megamenu, enabling one-click access to every page on the website, making navigation effortless.
The website has been extremely well received by staff, parents, and prospective families. Its user-friendly design and easy navigation have set a new standard for school websites in the area, leading to interest from other schools seeking similar solutions.
